Can Gua Sha Be Used On Other Areas Than Just The Face?
Gua Sha is perfect to use on all areas of the body, not just your face. It has so many benefits from boosting collagen and elastin production to relieving muscle tension.
Gua Sha is widely known to benefit your face but it has so many benefits if used on the whole body, from your neck to your feet Gua Sha reduces inflammation, aids sleep, temporarily reduces the appearance of cellulite and soothes muscles.
You may notice the skin to appear red while using the Gua Sha and this is completely normal but remember Gua Sha should not hurt so if it does, ease up on the pressure. If you're interested in full body Gua Sha here's a little routine I like to do. Start with the face, use a generous amount of facial oil and massage the stone upward and outward.
Next move onto the neck and chest starting at the hairline and moving down toward the shoulder to help muscle tension and posture, from there start in the center of the chest moving outward to the shoulder and repeat on both sides. Then you can apply oil to your lower back and legs, apply light pressure with the stone down and out from the center of the lower back toward the hips.
When using the Gua Sha on your legs you want to pull the stone up rather than down, start at your ankles and move up to your knee. Repeat this motion on the calf and thigh area.
Studies show that massage can decrease cortisol levels which reduces stress and muscle tension.
