How to Have Glowing Skin in 2025

Here are some proven ways to get glowing, healthy skin in 2025.

Adding some new habits, removing some bad ones, all to achieve clearer, vibrant skin fast!

DOUBLE CLEANSE EACH NIGHT

You might be asking questions like:

"How many times can you wash your face a day?"

"Can you wash your face 3 times a day?"

"Do you need to wash your face every day?"

"Is it better to wash your face in the morning or at night?"

I GOTCHU GIRL!! You should ALWAYS double cleanse your face before falling asleep.

The first cleanse is to remove oil, dirt, pollutants and any left over makeup from the day.

For the second cleanse, look for a gentle cleanser that has jojoba oil in it so that it can remove makeup without clogging pores.

No matter what! Do not, I repeat DO NOT use coconut or olive oil to remove your makeup or cleanse your face.

Coconut and olive oil were meant to be ingested and not put on your skin.

A food molecule is WAY too large for your skin's pores and will clog it instead of help your skin!

If you're using the food oils to hydrate your skin, we recommend investing in a pre-cleanser that contains jojoba oil or a non-comedogenic hydrating moisturizer so you don't clog your pores.

By cleansing your skin first with a designated pre-cleanse milky cleanser you will allow the second cleanser to actually penetrate your skin and not on the makeup, oil or dirt.

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

Cleanse first with a gentle, non-comedogenic, makeup removing cleanser. Follow up with a cleanser that will chemically (chemical ingredients) and physically (beads) exfoliate your skin and brighten it up over time.

In the morning, skip the wash (unless specifically instructed by your skincare professional) and instead use a toner meant specifically for YOUR skin.

STOP USING PORE-CLOGGING INGREDIENTS

Make sure your skin stays smooth and clear of breakouts by making sure your pores are not clogged.

To make things easy, here are the top 5 ingredients you should stop using on your face (these could be what's making you break out!)

  1. Comedogenic oils (like coconut or olive oil)

  2. Laureth-4 & 23

  3. Isopropyl isostearate/myristate

  4. Myristyl myristate

  5. Cocoa/shea butter

All of the above ingredients are the highest comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients out there.

We know the hype around coconut and olive oils but they are simply not true!

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

If you like having soft, radiant skin - stop buying products with these pore clogging ingredients!

The best place to look for great products is at your local spa or under our "products" tab.

GET PROFESSIONAL TREATMENTS EVERY 3-5 WEEKS

There are some products that are not intended for the general public because they require extensive training and special handling.

This is when a licensed Esthetician is our best recommendation.

An Esthetician can see things under a magnifying lamp and use tools that you can't purchase at a drugstore (or use at home) to break up dead skin cells, perform extractions and soften your skin.

You'll leave glowing every time!

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

We suggest getting a facial or skin treatment at your local spa every 3-5 weeks so that you can heavily exfoliate your skin and prevent a build up of dead skin cells that could be making your skin appear dull.

WEAR MINERAL SPF

It's important to note that we are talking about mineral SPF and not chemical SPF.

This is because mineral sunscreen will physically block the UV rays while chemical sunscreen will dissolve them as they hit your skin.

However, a major downfall to chemical SPF is that it will be absorbed into your body and only lasts up to 2 hours - meaning you have to re-apply it throughout the day.

It's also important to mention that the SPF intensity has very little difference once you go any higher than SPF 50.

The difference is small but we don't recommend an SPF higher than 50 because anything higher makes no difference… or sense!

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

Our absolute favorite mineral sunscreen is the one we sell at the spa. It's tinted and contains amazing ingredients. Plus, it's SPF 35.

STAY HYDRATED

We're not the first to tell you and we won't be the last but keeping your skin hydrated helps it to stay plump, resilient and healthy!

We lose water through our skin every day, it's important to replenish that water because well hydrated skin looks vibrant and dewy.

Lack of water presents itself as dry, tight and flaky skin. This has the potential to crack or tear, causing discomfort.

You'll be prone to less wrinkles or fine lines because the collagen won't degrade as fast.

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

Most medical professionals recommend 92 oz of water a day. We like to add lemon and ginger to our water (or any fruit really!) to give it great flavor and keep us motivated to drink more! An electrolyte powder is another yummy addition to add to your water.

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

It's recommended to get 7-9 hours of sleep a night for two important reasons: over eating and cellular rejuvenation.

Within the first 3 hours of sleep your body produces human growth hormone to start healing any damage that was done throughout the day.

The next 2 hours of sleep produce Melatonin which acts as an antioxidant to combat free radical damage that you might have endured.

In the final 3 hours of sleep, your cortisol (stress hormone) levels decreases giving your skin the deepest recovery of the night.

When we don't get enough sleep our body produces the hunger hormones; Leptin and Ghrelin.

We have to get our energy from somewhere if we didn't get it from enough sleep!

The hunger hormones may cause us to over-indulge in foods that could make us breakout like milk chocolate or sushi.

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

Try your best to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night to give your skin the best chance it has to rest and heal!

MANAGE STRESS LEVELS

Cortisol, also known as our stress hormone, will reek havoc on our bodies if we let it stay too long.

Scientific studies have strongly linked stress as the main cause of skin diseases like acne, eczema and psoriasis.

Any change in hormone levels at all have the potential to cause blotchy, irritated skin.

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

Reduce stress by moving your body, meditating, dancing like no one is watching and getting at least 7 hours of sleep each night.

KEEP YOUR SKIN HYDRATED

We've already covered how much water should go into your body, now let's talk about what should go ON your body to keep your skin from drying out.

Start by using hydrating products with ingredients like peptides (ceramides) and vitamin C.

Peptides are small chains of amino acids which are the building blocks of proteins. When collagen breaks down in our skin (in the natural aging process) it forms small chains of these amino acids.

Applying peptides to your skin allows for the chains to link together and send messages to the skin to produce more collagen.

Vitamin C is a wonderful antioxidant that breaks up free radicals (pollution) in your skin and allows your skin to breath and function in a healthy way.

For this same reason, using Vitamin C daily will also break up dark spots that were caused by UV radiation from the sun.

Vitamin C also boosts collagen production and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too.

The Beach House's skin care recommendation:

We recommend using a Vitamin C serum with your morning routine and a peptide or hyaluronic acid rich serum under your night cream in the evening to experience the maximum benefits of both.

LIMIT ALCOHOL

It's no secret that smoking and drinking impacts your skin's health.

While drinking a 4oz glass of wine each night is not going to hurt you but drinking any more than that might!

Excessive alcohol dehydrates your skin and can speed up aging.

QUIT SMOKING

Smoking is bad for every organ, including your skin!

Smoking puts bags under your eyes from lack of sleep from the nicotine withdrawal you experience over night.

It ages your skin faster due to a lack of blood flow to the skin and can give you premature wrinkles around your mouth for when you pull and blow on the cigarette or vape.

The Beach House's final verdict:

Science shows that on average, you replace about 1 percent of the cells in your body every day.

Each cell comes in a little stronger or a little weaker than the one before, depending on how you choose to live your life.

You are the only one who has the power to make the changes that will provide you the health and beauty you deserve!
