How often should I get my underarms waxed?

I recommend waxing your underarms every 3.5 to 4 weeks

It can all vary on the rate of your hair growth so you will want to be sure to take that into account.

If you feel like your hair grows faster than the average then getting your underarms waxed every 2.5 to 3 weeks might be more of your style.

If you feel like your hair grows slowly then I recommend getting your underarms waxed every 4 to 5 weeks.

If you aren’t quite sure how fast/slow your hair grows then we recommend the norm time of 3.5 to 4 weeks. That seems to be the sweet spot for most of our clients.

When you first start on your waxing journey and have only ever shaved then you will want to stop shaving 2.5 weeks before your first wax.

This allows for the hair to grow out and be long enough for a clean and smooth hair removal. This decreases the chance of any hair or breakage being left behind.

It will also take at least 3 wax appointments for your hair to be all on the same growth cycle.

Your hair has 3 growth cycles consisting of the anagen, catagen, and telogen phase. The first, anagen, being the active phase where it will begin its growth, catagen being the transitional phase before it goes into telogen, the resting phase, and it is pushed out.

Each of your hairs could be on completely different cycles. Which is why we say it will take at least 3 waxes for your hair to be on the same cycle.

The more often you get your underarms waxed the less you will have to come in to get them done.

Once you stick to a consistent schedule on waxing your underarms the hair will come back thinner and more sparse meaning not as many appointments as time goes on.

So when you are first starting out we recommend coming in every 3.5 to 4 weeks for your wax, but as time progresses the weeks in between will too.

Your first six months to a year of waxing we might see you for an appointment each month. Going into your second year of waxing it could be every 1.5 to 2 months and so on.

As time goes on clients have even seen their hair not come back at all. Of course, this won’t happen at first, but with patience you can get there.

Waxing creates a trauma between the follicle and the bulb of the hair and once that is damaged enough it won’t allow the hair to grow back.

Overall, I think waxing is more ideal than shaving and the little maintenance that comes with it you will appreciate.

Here at The Beach House we make it easy for you to get started on your waxing journey. We can make standing appointments for you to get your underarms waxed to keep a consistent schedule for you to see the best results.
