What happens during a Microdermabrasion treatment?

Are you nervous about getting your first microdermabrasion treatment? No worries!

Today I’ll walk you through each step in the microdermabrasion treatment process so you know exactly what to expect when you come into the spa.

We will start out by cleansing and toning your skin to make sure we have a fresh and clean base for the exfoliation process. This is the major part in the facial.

The next step is to turn on the machine and prep it to do its job, we will test the suction on the back of our hand to ensure it is perfect for your skin and not too rough.

The best part of the microdermabrasion machine is that the amount of suction can be changed to be gentle, aggressive or somewhere in between so it will always be fully customizable to what your skin needs.

From there we will start with the microdermabrasion treatment after all the prepping is done.

Two passes are typically done on the skin and this seems to work great for ALL clients.

We will start with the first pass and then check your skin once it is complete to make sure it is ready for a second pass.

Typically these passes are done in two separate directions to really make sure your skin is exfoliated and all the dead skin is removed.

It should never be painful or uncomfortable and your esthetician will check in to make sure you are comfortable throughout the whole treatment. Any adjustment can be made as needed!

After the microdermabrasion treatment is complete we will remove the leftover micro-crystals with another cleanse and apply the appropriate serums and moisturizer for your skin's needs and concerns.

Lastly we will apply SPF, which is the most important part of the aftercare of a microdermabrasion treatment, and we will send you on your way with youthful glowing skin!

There is no need to worry about your first microdermabrasion treatment, it is painless and gives you amazing results whether your looking to heal acne scars or help even your skin texture and tone.

Microdermabrasion can be done on all skin types, except those with severe acne. We don’t recommend it for our severe acne clients because it can cause the spread of bacteria and neither of us want that!

If you have recently taken Isotretinoin, otherwise known as accutane, you will want to avoid this treatment for at least six to nine months after your last dose. Accutane causes your skin to thin out and it is still in the healing process even after you have stopped your medication.

We recommend waiting at least six months before trying any treatment after taking this medication.

As long as you don’t fall in those last two categories Microdermabrasion would be great for your skin! You will leave the spa glowing for days to come.
