What is the downtime after a Microdermabrasion treatment?

If you're considering a microdermabrasion treatment you might wonder, “What is the downtime? Am I going to have to pause my normal activities?” The answer is no!!

There is little to no downtime at all and you can resume your normal daily activities immediately.

After a microdermabrasion treatment your skin may be a little pink, but don't worry it's completely normal and it should subside quickly!

After your microdermabrasion treatment make sure you are using gentle skincare products with no active ingredients, such as glycolic acid, and you will also want to keep your skin super hydrated! Making it a priority to keep your skin moisturized will help keep the new layer of skin stay hydrated and radiate a youthful glow.

It is very important to not use any form of exfoliation on your skin for 3 or 4 days after your treatment, this is because the microdermabrasion uses micro-crystals to deeply exfoliate the top dead skin layer to reveal fresh healthy skin.

The new fresh skin needs time to adjust to its new exposure to the elements.

To help avoid irritation do not use any topical skin treatments such as retinol, glycolic acid, benzoyl peroxide or topical acne products for at least 24-48 hours after the microdermabrasion treatment.

In order to protect your exfoliated glowing skin make sure to stay indoors out of the sun. This part is super important!

If you do go outside it's even more important that you put your skin first by wearing a hat and  loading up on the SPF and don't forget to reapply every 2 hours!

Exposure to harmful UV rays after microdermabrasion treatment can slow down the healing process and hinder your results.

This specific treatment is known to promote healthier skin in the long run, prevent signs of aging, even out skin tone and texture, and even lighten sun spots.

Microdermabrasion is an amazing treatment to add to your next facial if you want that youthful glow, you will love the results! I hope to see you in the spa!
