Do i *really* need to wear SPF everyday?

The answer is YES

Not only do you need to wear it everyday but you need to reapply it several times throughout the day for it to work properly. You might say “It's winter”, or “the suns not out”, or “I'm going to be inside all day”, or my favorite is “It’s in my makeup”. Well, let me tell you - that does NOT count!

Just because it's not a beautiful warm day in July doesn’t mean the sun’s rays aren’t penetrating the skin. Especially here in Peoria or Central Illinois.

In some cases, the winter months can be just as damaging on the skin because the sun's rays are bouncing off the clouds/snow and creating just as much damage to the skin as direct sunlight does in the summer months.

Also, what a lot of people don’t realize is while at home or driving in the car the suns rays will penetrate through the windows and all glass coverings.  So yes girls and guys, you do need to wear sunscreen everyday.

This is how I look at it and I think it will make a lot of sense to you too. We do treatments such as chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasion, and light therapy. We do all the things to keep our skin looking young and healthy. We set aside precious time and hard earned money for our treatments and skincare.  I know a lot of people that have a specific budget for skincare because let's face it, skincare and upkeep does get pricey.

Why would you want to waste all the treatments, time, and money by damaging the skin with too much sun exposure? One day of your beautiful skin out in the sun without protection sets your skin back 30 days.  When you do that it just becomes counter active. All that work flushed right down the drain!

SPF has come a LONG way in the past few years. There are so many types of sunscreens that can be suited to your skin type.

There is both physical and chemical sunscreen. I recommend physical sunscreens if you can find one. The difference between the two are one absorbs the UVA/B rays into the skin and then scatters them (chemical) and the other sits on top of the skin and deflects the rays (physical). Physical sunscreens tend to be less pore clogging and contain the better of the two ingredients.

In both chemical and physical sunscreens you can find ones that are a tinted finish, matte finish, sheen finish,  and dewy finish. This makes it much easier for individuals to find a sunscreen they like and stick to it.

I personally prefer our Tinted SPF we sell here at The Beach House.

Our tinted SPF comes in light, medium, and dark so it is easy to match to your skin tone. It is a creamy, but still light to make your skin look airbrushed to keep all your natural tones

Here's what you can do and it's so easy:

1. Find a sunscreen that fits you

2. Keep this sunscreen with you at all times

3. Apply it every 2-3 hours
