How does LED light therapy reduce the signs of aging?

Before we get into LED and how it can reduce the signs of aging, let me give you a little background on what it is. LED stands for light emitting diode. It uses varying wavelengths of light to penetrate beneath the skin.

These light treatments have been used by NASA since the 1960’s for plant growth experiments. Very high tech right!? After seeing the results from plants they decided to try it on human skin. The lights showed excellent results for human tissue growth, regenerating, and healing the skin. Pretty cool I think!

LED light therapy is a quick noninvasive skin treatment that we offer here at The Beach House that takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes. It has no contraindications and anyone can do it!

The LED wavelengths penetrate into the skin at different depths, in turn targeting different concerns.

Red and blue lights are the most commonly used, for anti aging and acne. However there are several color combinations you can create depending on what you want to target.

Red light will improve dull skin, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, uneven skin tone and pretty much all signs of aging.  When the collagen production is stimulated by the red light this triggers the tissues to heal and the aging process will slow down slightly.

Blue light targets your sebaceous glands, otherwise known as your oil glands. The light will target these glands to make them less active. In turn, seeing less breakouts. The blue light kills bacteria beneath the skin, decreases scarring, and is a great anti-inflammatory

Now this isn't a one time shot and it won't happen overnight. With several treatments and consistency, being the key, LED therapy can work wonders on the skin! Plus I think it is a little space age and kind of fun.

Come see us for an out of this world LED light therapy treatment.
